The only patch related to "Schiit" I can find in the Linux sources is this:

But I don't think that's what we're missing here. Since the device attaches
properly, and buffers and channels are set up without problems, the issue we
have to narrow down is why the samples do not reach the audio device.

Can you boot with hw.usb.debug=15 and share dmesg?
