Attached is now a capture from a successful connect to Windows 7 under VMware.
The biggest difference I see is that there are two requests that Wireshark
can't fully decode:

Request:

Response:

There could easily be something else I'm missing. This trace doesn't seem to
capture the hub traffic, so I don't know if something else is happening there.

Incidentally, a Linux VM on the same system has the same problem as FreeBSD,
with a five second interface instead of a three second interval.
