--- Comment #1 from Mark Millard <marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com> ---
I have a main FreeBSD and main ports context, with latest for
ports. So the below is not a full match to your context in
various ways.

On the amd64 system with 16 dual-threaded cores (so 32 FreeBSD cpus):
(the TMPFS: . . . output at tghe ends of some lines are something
added to my personal-build poudriere-devel contexts)

[00:00:05] [01] [00:00:00] Building sysutils/u-boot-beaglebone |
u-boot-beaglebone-2024.04
[00:00:18] [01] [00:00:13] Finished sysutils/u-boot-beaglebone |
u-boot-beaglebone-2024.04: Success ending TMPFS: 3.91 GiB

This was with ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS= so it was allowed to use all 32 cpus.

# uname -apKU
FreeBSD 7950X3D-ZFS 15.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 15.0-CURRENT #144
main-n271413-1f7df7570174-dirty: Sat Jul 27 16:01:52 UTC 2024
root@7950X3D-ZFS:/usr/obj/BUILDs/main-amd64-nodbg-clang/usr/main-src/amd64.amd64/sys/GENERIC-NODBG
amd64 amd64 1500021 1500021

So the problem is somehow more specific to your context in some way.
