Unless you have a solution for how, it has been
over a year since https://reviews.freebsd.org/D30842
was not accepted --and no alternatives were generated
so far as I can tell: no known, acceptable solution
exists at this point.

So, for now, changing the ports is a requirement if
they are to build.
