The only supported way to upgrade riscv64 systems is by source.  You are
telling me that without hand-patching, riscv64 systems simply cannot be
upgraded.  This is a sad state of affairs.  Why not just put the workaround in?
 It seems to be doing the trick for now and can always be replaced with a
proper solution later.
