I had actually seen the script option in dhclient.conf(5) but had not looked
at /sbin/dhclient-script - so thanks for pointing it out.

There's probably no way around setting up some "lab conditions" before I
start butchering dhclient-script, but from my cursory glance at the script
it should be quite feasible to do what I want.

So now I have to decide what exactly it *is* that I want...
