Hi, at the end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s, I got involved with AI. At that time, computers were still largely unsuitable for the kind of applications that exist today, but you could already see where it was going, because AI was probably already being used to murder people, at least that's what I assume from the TV show called =E2=80=9CGulf War=E2=80= =9D. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_War#/media/File:Gulf_war_target_cam.jpg At that time, Joseph Weizenbaum became one of my role models. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Weizenbaum I gave up on AI because I didn't have the money for suitable computers, not because I'm a critic of the stupid use of AI. https://futurama.fandom.com/wiki/Hedonismbot Nowadays I don't bother with it because I'm too old and want to devote my time to creating art. I think something like ChatGPT sucks, I don't know what's available in this area on FreeBSD or Linux, but AI can also be used sensibly. I appreciate for example that image processing with the help of AI can crop objects or creatures on photos (at least this is available as software that runs on proprietary operating systems https://apps.apple.com/de/app/scan-thing-scan-anything/id1542730895?platfor= m=3Diphone ), so I don't have to work with the green screen or spend hours with lasso tools. I prefer to make music, draw, write something etc. myself and I would also prefer to do it myself if these strange AI apps were good at it, but so far they are not. Even where they are able to produce impressive results, they only adopt styles, they don't create them. But even if they could be truly creative, I want to express myself, the fulfillment for me is in the making, not just the intellectual, but also the craft, so even if my brushstroke is less practiced than an AI's, it would still be my brushstroke. There is certainly no clear dividing line between the stupid and the sensible use of AI. When I'm in a hurry, I sometimes type in German and have it translated into English to reply to a mailing list, but it's translating my own thoughts. I'm also trying to improve my own English skills, so I like to write without translation aids. https://www.deepl.com/de/translator Regards, Ralfbot :)
