I went for the Pi because I had that "lying around" :-) and not doing anything else ATM. I don't really want to spend any money on this. If it just refuses to run in an acceptable way, I may have to go back to Linux again. I chose FreeBSD because I have been using it for two decades now on servers and for a while on my desktop.
