ZFS on FreeBSD both in 12 and 13 have a better than excellent track record. Nothing beats zfs snapshot management ease. UFS is not in the same league here. Nor is bit rot protection via zfs scrub. You said you are moving from RELENG_12 which does not have any zfs encryption so dont worry about edge case zfs encryption bugs in OpenZFS if you dont use that feature in the first place. If you want to stick with FreeBSD, move to RELENG_13. If you feel OpenZFS doesnt work for you, switch to maybe Open Indiana, but I doubt there is as much development going on there. ---Mike
