After release 13, fusefs-jmtpfs depends on libmtp, which is in user space. Somehow, it no longer works to mount the smartphone due to being unable to open a fuse device. The jmtpfs version seems no change - it still is g20190420, so not sure how the underlayer changed from kernel to use space.
