I must correct myself. The updates do seem to be fetched and /var/db/freebs= d-update/ is populated. Specifically the files/ dir is full of the .gz upda= te files.

At the point= where "(END)" printd, you should have been in your pager, probab= ly more(8). The pager should have patiently waited until you told it to exi= t. The parent process should have then awakened and proceeded. 'q' = exits more.
