sh shell

Hi!

I am using FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE-p3 and sh is root shell, for user I
have ksh.
In .shrc I have set -o vi but control mode ( type ESC) in sh shell
doesn't work. Is this normal or is something wrong on my system, please?
