Several mistakes there:

1. chown postgres:postgres /usr/local/etc/portgresql # This is not necessary
2. login to posgres user should read "change user postgres". You are
missing a "t" on that line.
3. For the above it should be "su postgres" and not "su posgres" - still a
"t" is missing.
