For you or someone else to fix your computer, they will likely make use of the HP support web site: https://support.hp.com/us-en The web site asks "Enter your serial number, product number or product name". Please examine the laptop for a manufacturer label with this information. Please reply with the product number and product name only; the serial number is sensitive information and should not be posted on the Internet. Once we have the product number and product name, we can browse the HP support web site and recommend a course of action. Note that Microsoft used to put "Certificate of Authenticity" (COA) stickers on computers that were manufactured with Windows. (For laptops, the COA could be on the bottom or under the battery.) The COA included the Windows edition and a Product Key . Most new computers now have a logo "Windows" sticker; the Windows edition and product key are stored in firmware (e.g. a chip inside the computer). Please examine the laptop for either or both of these stickers. Please reply with a description of the stickers your find, and what they say about Windows (e.g. "Windows" alone, "Windows 7 Home", etc.), BUT DO NOT POST THE PRODUCT KEY ON THE INTERNET OR IT WILL BE PIRATED AND MICROSOFT MAY DEACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE!
