Old MAC console font

Hello all,
I have an old mac running Freebsd 9.2 r255898. The power went off
after few years of happy running, and, once rebooted, the console
is 80x25 caracters. I remember I have put it at something like 132
columns (don't remember # of lines), tough I don't remeber how I
did manage. Beeing a 9.2 it lacks vt (it has only sc) and I seem
to remember to have used vidcontrol to change console resolution,
but now vidcontrol -i mode gives me:

if I issue any vidcontrol with a mode I always get
vidcontrol: cannot set videomode: Inappropriate ioctl for device
what am I missing?
