The formula currently doesn't support zfs clones-like and/or send/recv 
jails (it currently fetches everything).

That's true, although a salt-minion process consumes only ~60MB. Unless
you have many many jails or older system with less RAM I would say
that memory usage is not an issue.

You can handle this with an orchestration script or ...
