I’d like to add a few common-sense rules for deprecators: 1) Firstly, contact the maintainer, even when this is ports@FreeBSD.org. 2) Check for an entry at repology (<https://repology.org/projects/>): if it is packaged by several distributions, that means that this port is still relevant => Stop! 3) Check for a possible entry in bugzilla and/or phabricator: if found, complete it, ans stop for the moment. 3) Make a quick search for a possible relocation of WWW or the distfile: if you find one, send a PR (or fix it yourself). 4) Check if the port is used as a dependency: if True, iterate to 1).
