If you have any issue, hits us up in AGS. We have an open issue a user open
about the port:

We have a working CMake configuration for FreeBSD, but we haven't created a
particular makefile for it. If you prefer the Makefile route, it should
probably be added a Makefile-defs.freebsd here:
https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/tree/master/Engine

It's probably best to PR any changes instead of maintaining separate
patches.

(also sorry if I answered the message privately instead of to the list,
correcting in this one)
