pkg-message finally says:

 There are some potentially breaking changes in Dovecot 2.3. If you
 are upgrading from Dovecot 2.2:

   * Read https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Upgrading/2.3

When navigating there, it says "The old Wiki has been closed".

The new URL appears to be:

https://doc.dovecot.org/2.3/installation_guide/upgrading/from-2.2-to-2.3/
