how to proceed. Despite what the documentation sounds like, you do not need a
German ID or "eID". What you do need is a smartphone with NFC tag reading
capability, the Ausweisapp installed from the respective app store, and of
course the pkg installed on a FreeBSD. All of this needs to be within the same
local network.
