I believe that the correct requirement is "NETWORKING", not "networking". I made that change, and the problem went away. I have made a pull request on GitHub with this change: https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-ports/pull/311 Please let me know if there is anything else I should do regarding this, or= if I've screwed up somehow (I'm pretty new to both making changes to the ports system and to using GitHub to do anything more than commenting and whatnot).
