botan3 is available as a port, but I have no idea how different it is from
botan2.  Also, trying to decipher the workings of the "--with-system-botan"
configuration option leave me completely at sea about whether ANY botan code is
getting invoked by thunderbird, or when.  (To begin with, I don't know what
botan does!)
