Thank you very much for the links and the extra info.

There were no specific reasons other than the port itself had Lua bundled so I
wanted to give the choice to the user. But, it seems reasonable after studying
the reasoning from the handbook to remove those.

Indeed the Makefile became much simpler using the flavours as well.

Here's another patch that passes all tests.
