It's certainly weird if you can't reproduce it!

To eliminate as much as possible, I knocked up this script and ran it on a
FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE/amd64 VPS which uses stock FreeBSD binary upgrades and
packages instead of my own local builds:

                          test -e jdupes || git clone --depth=1

With this I observe the same result
