I have tested this version and it is much the same as the last version:

Note: I re-created my ddclient.conf file, starting from the sample provided,
and then re-entered my dyndns provider settings, so I think this is likely a
bug in the code.

Comment 3 suggests there are some communities wanting this version, but that
there are known problems with the ddclient code.  My suggestion is a ports
committer creates a ddclient-devel port, assigns maintainer to Franco, and
commits this version there.
