It's intended to work either with the default repo config (everything comes
from pkg.freebsd.org) or full Poudruere/Synth config (everything is built from
source). The fancy stuff tends to break it, but those users are presumably
smart enough to handle that.

Also, I'm surprised that configuration even works — you are not supposed to
have amd64 and i386 repos in a single config. Anyway, if you want real
improvement, you need to address your complaints at
https://github.com/freebsd/pkg/issues.
