Apple did in fact implement an API in their fork of ipfw which is the interface
being used by miniupnpd to dynamically add or remove port forwarding rules to
ipfw on the fly.
As API support was never backported to FreeBSD's IPFW, backporting Apple's IPFW
API support to FreeBSD would most likely allow miniupnpd to work with IPFW in
FreeBSD.
