I didn't ask you to physically disable the BMC, the new FreeBSD version (14.2)
has additional counters that will tell us if it is riding on one of the ports. 
sysctl dev.igb.<x> will do.

I am not aware of any instability of x2apic.  I wouldn't think it relevant to
the problems you are having on or off.
