We all have to work together somehow.  I don't particularly care about the past
or downstream project business concerns as long as everyone is doing good work
on the mainline tree. I'd like help improving FreeBSD from anyone interested,
there's plenty of work to go around.  I feel that some of your technical
concerns will be taken more seriously when you are on an up to date mainline
FreeBSD.
