This was just playing an MP3 with mplayer:

AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, floatle, 192.0 kbit/6.80% (ratio: 24000->352800)
Selected audio codec: [ffmp3float] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG layer-3 audio)
AO: [oss] 44100Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)

The same plays fine with an other USB audio device I had laying around.

I've added two attachments of the output you asked. Explanation: now that I've
plugged the USB at some other port in the hub it's numbered '8'.
