DNS issues in chroot (not resolv.conf)

I ended up having to resolve some addrs before running the chroot script and. Just wrote the it the hosts file, which works but I want to figure out why dns wouldn’t resolve, I copied over the resolv.conf the only thing I could think of is its something to do with Linux compat or specifically void/musk but no idea what, I could try strace or enable bootverbose to see if it reveals anything but I though I’d ask incase I’m missing something semi obvious
