 It's because Comet Lake uses the same GPU as the previous generation
so you need to install gpu-firmware-intel-kmod-kabylake as noted in :
Dec  5 22:14:30 beastie14 kernel: drmn0: could not load firmware image
'i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin'
