That's because you're missing polkit agent running in the background.
You can install polkit-gnome package, then go to cinnamon control center, then
to startup applications. Add new command
/usr/local/libexec/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 to it.
Relogin.
I'll try to include this to cinnamon installation or provide proper instruction
for this in https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=281737
