Missing gutter/handle in gtk[34]

I currently have gtk[234] installed on my freebsd14.1 desktop, and I'm using gtk3 for a personnel project of mine. I realized that I couldn't get my vertical gtk_paned widgets to properly display the gutter-handle separating the two panes. Out of curiosity I then ran gtk-demo, gtk3-demo and gtk4-demo, which are automatically added as part of the default gtk installs. I realized that gtk3-demo and gtk4-demo also fail to add the gutter handle (gtk-demo (gtk2) works fine).

Now my question is whether I'm the only one seing this, or if it's a shortcoming of the freebsd gtk[34] ports!?
