It can leave the system pretty pretty useless. If a mate/gnome program starts before the wnck-applet starts, it is fine, but after than, the program will not start. It just sits there using no CPU time. Could someone please commit this soon? I lost several hours looking at this and reinstalling ports trying to get a usable system until I saw Martin's report which led to a quick resolution.
