Dave did you solve the issues with firmware upgrade? I am waiting for
black promotions to get one and I saw on the forums and the reviews
there was initial batch with faulty firmware that caused quick data
degradation so this will be most likely also cause of your problems,
you definitely need to firmware upgrade :-)
