The "linux_base-c7" port is deprecated, see here: https://www.freshports.org/emulators/linux_base-c7/ Maybe the "we" that marked it deprecated is a different "we" than you're talking about? When doing a `pkg update/upgrade` on my server that uses it, I got a big warning about the port being deprecated. So I went to the Handbook for guidance, but found none.
