This would then mean the FreeBSD Handbook wouldn't need to sy= stematically indicate or state the command requires superuser privileges. So instead of the FreeBSD Handbook incorrectly stating to execute this... # pkg install gnome ... The FreeBSD Handbook would instead state to execute this: sudo pkg install gnome This way doesn't require the user knowing what '#' means which saves them = time, a bad experience, and it makes using FreeBSD more practical. > Sent: Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 12:51 pm > From: "Kolusion K" > To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org > Subject: Systematic broken instructions > > Hi, > > > The FreeBSD Handbook has a systematic problem where it gives literal ins= tructions that don't work. > > For example, section 8.2.2.1. Its probably explained somewhere in t= he thousand page manual but most people don't have time to read it all, an= d they shouldn't have to read it all for something which could easily be e= xplained on the spot. :) > > > Sincerely, > > Kolusion >
