--- Comment #1 from Guido Falsi <madpilot@FreeBSD.org> ---
Please file this patch with upstream and sign their contributor agreement and
let's see if there are comments.

The port is already diverging enough from upstream (also due to their strict
policy accepting patches), but this one, if accepted in principle, being your
original work could be accepted upstream, at least from a licensing aspect.

Anyway I'm not going to consider this change if there is no upstream pull
request.

While I again have no strong opinions about the change your justification "I
don't want crap in ~ and /var" is hardly a good reason for a global change.

Your personal preferences not necessarily reflect the users general consensus.
We cannot modify ports to tailor them for each individual user, The
.xsession-errors request was already borderline IMHO. I'm trying to accommodate
your requests but I really cannot fork lightdm just to move around all its dot
files.

I also have not understood your "Simple hack:" part, not the comment about
profile. Can you explain exactly what you mean? what you expect and trying to
achieve?

Please note that I'm not an expert about the intricacies of Xorg dot files, so
please give comprehensive explanations and at least some reference to official
documentation and standard where these files are expected/allowed to live.
Personal preferences are not really that relevant.
