There may be dragons...:
kern.maxvnodes: 1048576000
vfs.wantfreevnodes: 262144000
vfs.freevnodes: 0              <-----------------------
vfs.vnodes_created: 11832359
vfs.numvnodes: 146699
vfs.recycles_free: 4700765
vfs.recycles: 0
vfs.vnode_alloc_sleeps: 0

Another time I got an insanely huge amount of free vnodes (more than 
maxvnodes).
