I am officially baffled.

I installed latest CURRENT snapshot on another system and then buildworld and buildkernel after checkout of d4e8207317c.

At reboot, with a serial console I can get to single user mode no problem :

Not a clue why.

Hi,

Some thoughts to narrow down on possibilities.

How do you specify what pool to boot from?
There are multiple options:
- vfs.root.mountfrom=zfs:...  in /boot/loader.conf
- zpool get all | grep bootfs
- Some cachefile. I think this is legacy. I don't see it on my ZFS anymore.
- A definition in /etc/fstab. But I guess the FS must be mounted first before this can be read.
- And probably other options I don't know about.

And somewhere in the boot messages you should have a line like this. What does it say?
"Trying to mount root from zfs:zrpi4/ROOT/14-2022_03_09"

And what is the output of "gpart show"?

Regards,
Ronald.
