There is the MINIMAL kernel configuration which you= can use as a base if you really want to save a few MB. (For reference, strippi= ng an amd64 GENERIC-NODEBUG kernel takes it from 28MB to 25MB.) As Warner notes, stripping the kernel will break some facilities that are useful for debugging, making it much harder to diagnose problems.
