            Bug ID: 280048
Summary: Installer wizard: Incomplete hint text
           Product: Base System
           Version: 14.1-STABLE
          Hardware: arm64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: bin
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: ant-x@rambler.ru

While installing FreeBSD 14.1 from the disc1 release, the installer's
text-mode UI provides an incomplete hint about the control keys. For
example, the "Keymap selection" window says:

> Press arrows, TAB or ENTER.

A good hint should be more clear, and say which keys do what, e.g.:

> Use [not "press"] arrows to highlight an item, ENTER to select it, and
> TAB to cycle though buttons.

Alternatively, a generic message can be composed that applies to all or
most windows of the installer wizard, e.g.:

> Use ARROWS to navigate inside a control, TAB to cycle between
> controls, and ENTER to activate the selected element.

Also, the intro text is inexact. It says:

> Other keymaps can be chosen below.

whereas in fact only /one/ additioal keymap seems to be selectable, so
that the text can say, e.g.:

> An additional keymap can be chosen below.
