At least I now understand what was happening. It still seems like it would be a good idea to treat the variable as absolute when the first chara= cter is a '/'.=20 I went ahead and reinstalled the OS using the install tool on the distribut= ion, It worked almost perfectly My complements to the authors. Almost no files t= hat I had modified were lost. There were a few exceptions but was easy to guess what might have been replaced, check on mtimes to confirm. (find did the wo= rk.) As a result, I have a working system, so won't be able to test the mullfs trick. Looks like it should work, though. One thing that would have helped ti relieve my concerns was an ability to s= tep directly over the disc setup directly to the installation, though a warning about overwriting system files. Again, thanks for the explanation. I'll close this ticket, now. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
