For my part, it is no problem, as I have already updated my perl-based installer script interpreter to use an internal handler for sysrc script commands that can handle names with dots etc also, instead of actually calling sysrc. Just FYI, in the FreeBSD forums sysrc often is being recommended to use when configuration files are to be modified, not limited to rc files. So I understand this actually is *bad* practice, which rather should be *disencouraged*. Maybe it then might be a good idea to add an according warning in the manual page against "abusing" sysrc for things it was not explicitly designed for. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
