I was at LISA 2000 at the Kerberos SIG session. After the session, speaking to Paul Hill, Project Athena (MIT KRB5) team lead, he was lamenting the fact that M$ had imported MIT into A/D and was not only importing it but had added fields to the MIT KRB5 protocol which MIT was opposed to adding. He was not opposed to them using the code but he was opposed to them changing the protocol to support M$ goals. Since M$ was such a big player and so powerful at the time they had no choice but to support M$'s extensions.
