^Triage (at community user request): Request feedback / commit from the folks
who have landed asmc support before. Please cancel flag if you don't have any
available cycles.

With specific hardware model availability being unlikely, whats the best way to
get these landed?

This one may need a trivial rebase on CURRENT. 

@Reporter (Trev), if you're able to produce a patch against CURRENT (obsoleting
the first), that would be great.
