kernel update broke -current

Hi,

Attempting to update the kernel (system runs -current) with a new device in the 
kernel config. 

I did the following:

updated current sources via git
make kernel
rebooted

Is this recoverable without yanking the disk and inserting it into another
freebsd machine?
