I was not making such a suggestion. I expect that
Fedora would get the same problems. If Fedora did
not get the problems, that could get into finding
out what distinction(s) makes for the difference
in U-Boot behavior. (Not something I'm likely to
do.)

Of all things, I actually use my patched FreeBSD
U-Boot (usb_pgood_delay and such) on Fedora in
order for Fedora to manage to boot from my media:
Fedora's U-Boot build has the same problem with
the media type that FreeBSD's u-boot does.

So I only deal with building one U-Boot in one
environment. For my context, so far, things have
been compatible enough to get by with this. Not
that I'd recommend it as a general procedure.
