Freebsd-uboot list is not the same as https://lists.denx.de/listinfo/u-boot
All u-boot patches have to go into u-boot upstream itself (viewed from the fbsd-perspective) as far as I remember.
IIRC RasPiOS doesn’t use u-boot(that’s why the problem doesn’t occur there)  but 
but e.g. Ubuntu does and afaik they have mailing list for u-boot stuff….maybe also worth a try like the denx-lists...
